Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation General V K Singh today said that a proposal to enhance the funds given to MPs to carry out development works in their constituencies under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) is under the consideration of the Finance Ministry. In reply to a question, the Minister informed the Lok Sabha that however, no decision has been taken yet in the matter.<br/><br/>BJP member Subhash Bhamre had demanded to enhance the funds under the MPLADS which was supported by MPs cutting across part lines in the House. Under the MPLADS scheme, each MP has the choice of suggesting to the District Collector works to the tune of 5 crore rupees per annum to be taken up in his or her constituency.
