Calling that India's Navy's aircraft carrier INS Viraat be converted into a museum upon the end of its operational cycle, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R K Dhowan said today that a proposal regarding the same has been given to the government. He was speaking at the annual Naval Investiture Ceremony held aboard INS Viraat at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. The Indian Navy honoured the awardees of Presidents' Gallantry and non-Gallantry awards on the occasion. <br/><br/>He said the Navy has put forth a proposal for additional 6000 houses for Navy officers to the government, and the Defence Ministry has assured that the needful will be done. He informed that INS Vikrant is presently being built at their Kochi port and soon the aircraft carrier will be commissioned to the Navy's fleet. <br/><br/>The officers awarded today were Rear Admiral Biswajeet Dasgupta and Capt. Alok Ananda with Yuddh Seva Medal; Capt. Rajesh Dhankhar and Capt. Pradeep Singh with Nav Sena Medal and Capt. (TS) Ravibhushan Shrivastava with Vishishta Seval Medal among several others.
