The proposal for setting up a Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authority is under consideration of the Government. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office, Dr Jitendra Singh said the department is in the process of drafting a new Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authority Bill.<br/><br/>He said the proposed authority will provide statutory basis to nuclear safety regulation in the country ensuring its de jure independence. The Minister said, it will further strengthen nuclear and radiation safety regulations.
