Property of 5 officials confiscated under MP Special Court Act

In Madhya Pradesh, the state government has confiscated property of five public servants worth five crore 43 lakh rupees under the recently implemented Madhya Pradesh Special Court Act. An Empowered Committee, formed under the Act, had found prima facie that these properties were acquired through illegal means.AIR Correspondent reports, this is the first seizure of properties in the state under the Madhya Pradesh Special Court Act. The state government has set up eight special courts under the Act. These courts have been set up in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior. One court each in these cities has been established for speedy hearing of corruption cases related to public servants while another court has been set up for confiscation of property.
