The Centre has said a proper mechanism is in place to monitor the activities of terror groups after a British media report claimed that the man behind the Islamic State Twitter account hails from Bengaluru. Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju told reporters in New Delhi that the government has a mechanism in place and it is monitoring everything. Mr. Rijiju said he was not in a position to comment on the report immediately, however, he said that they have various agencies working on various directions at various positions.
Earlier, Bengaluru city Police Commissioner MN Reddi said that the news about the presence of Islamic State recruitment centre in the city, is being investigated. Speaking to media persons, he said the city police has not registered any case as yet and the details are being investigated. He further said that Channel 4 of Britain had relayed a news disclosing the of presence of Mehdi or Shami Witness in the city and had given details about their Twitter accounts. Saying that such a cell of IS in the city is yet to be ascertained, the Police Commissioner said that they will extend all cooperation to the Central Intelligence agency to unearth activities if any of IS in the state.
