Promotion of digital payment is priorities of govt to facilitate hassle-free banking transactions: Govt replies in LS

<span style="color: #222222;">The government today said banks are adopting the latest digital technologies to provide their customers with enhanced and hassle-free banking services in a digital mode. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Karad said promotion of digital payment is one of the priorities of the government to facilitate hassle-free and seamless banking transactions for the people of the country.<br />''<br />''Dr Karad said the Electronics and Information Technology Ministry has introduced the Incentive Scheme for promotion of RuPay Debit Cards and low-value BHIM-UPI transactions for the current financial year. The scheme provides a financial incentive to Banks for promoting point-of-sale and e-commerce transactions using Rupay Debit Cards and person-to-merchant transactions of low value up to two thousand rupees on the BHIM-UPI platform.<br />''<br />''The Minister said as a result of the various initiatives taken by the government, there has been a paradigm shift in digital transactions in the country. He said a volume of more than 7000 crore digital transactions took place in 2021-22. There were more than 2000 crore digital transactions in 2018-19. He pointed out that there has been a growth of more than 200 per cent in digital payment volume during the last four years.</span><br />
