In Uttar Pradesh, several prominent leaders and former ministers have filed their nomination papers for second phase of state assembly elections. These include state BJP chief Surya Pratap Shahi, expelled ministers from Mayawati Cabinet, Fateh Bahadur Singh and Rajesh Tripathi. Fateh Bahadur has filed his nomination as NCP candidate from Campiyarganj constituency. Rajesh Tripathi is BSP candidate from Chillupar.AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that a sizeable number of youth and female candidates have also filed their nominations from Gorakhpur and Basti divisions. 23rd January is the last date for filing nominations for 59 seats that will go to polls on the 11th of next month.
