Prominent Malayalam film actress Aaranmula Ponnamma passed away at Thiruvananthapuram due to old age. She was 96. Winner of second best actress award at the national and state levels, Ponnamma started acting in 1950 and entered film world from the field of theatre. She has acted in about 500 films mostly in mother's role and became a household name in Kerala for decades together. Aaranmula Ponnamma was also recipient of J C Daniel award of Kerala Government.
