<span style="color: #222222;">The sixth and the last of the Scorpene-class submarines of Project-75, INS Vagsheer, was launched in Mumbai today. The submarine has been built by Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited – MDL under the 'Make in India' initiative. Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, said that the submarine is a shining example of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.<br />''<br />''Lauding MDL for being India's premier shipbuilder, Mr. Ajay Kumar said, the company is playing a huge role in indigenisation of maritime construction. In a press release, MDL said that the submarine will now undergo a very comprehensive and rigorous set of tests and trials that are likely to last a year. It added that the trials will ensure delivery of a fully combat worthy submarine, capable of operation in all modes and regimes of deployment.<br />''<br />''MDL has informed that Vagsheer is named after the Sand Fish, a deadly deep sea predator of the Indian Ocean. The state-of-art technology utilised in the Scorpene Class submarine has ensured superior stealth features such as advanced acoustic absorption techniques, low radiated noise levels and the ability to launch a crippling attack on the enemy using precision guided weapons. It added that the submarine can carry out various types of missions i.e Anti-Surface warfare, Anti-Submarine warfare, Intelligence gathering, Mine Laying and Area Surveillance.<br />''<br />''It may be recalled that four submarines of the Project-75 Scorpene programme, namely Kalvari, Khanderi, Karanj and Vela have already been commissioned into the Indian Navy while the fifth Submarine Vagir is under sea trials phase.</span><br />
