The Delhi police has imposed Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code in New Delhi district preventing assembly of five or more persons ahead of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's planned dharna outside the Union Home Ministry today. Talking to AIR, Delhi Police PRO Rajan Bhagat, however said that the precautionary step has been taken in view of the Republic Day. Senior party leader Sanjay Singh told media that AAP will go ahead with its 'dharna' outside Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's office demanding action against Delhi police personnel for alleged dereliction of duty. Kejriwal, accompanied by Cabinet colleagues had met Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Friday and demanded suspension of the guilty policemen by 10 AM today.
The Home Ministry has, meanwhile, sought a report from the Delhi Police over the three incidents on which Arvind Kejriwal has demanded action against four police officials. The incidents relate to the negligence of the police in busting an the alleged prostitution racket in South Delhi, alleged failure in nabbing those involved in a dowry death case in West Delhi and the reported failure to prevent the gangrape of a Danish woman near New the Delhi railway station.
The Delhi Police has filed the FIR against unknown persons in connection with the case of alleged harassment of African women in South Delhi.
