Production of crude oil up by over 5.5 %

The production of crude oil rose by over 5.5 per cent and that of natural gas by 43.5 per cent in the first two months of the current financial year as compared to the production in the corresponding period last year. In April May this year, the production of crude oil was 5.816 million metric tons against 5.53 metric million tons last year. While in the case of natural gas, the actual production was more than the planned target, the production of crude oil was less than the target. As far as the month of May is concerned, the production of crude oil went up by 5.8 per cent over last year's figures in the same period. Natural gas production in May increased by 34.4 per cent but was less than the target.
