The procurement price of LED bulbs has fallen to 64 rupees 41 paise from 73 rupees per unit. The development follows government achieving the milestone of distributing over five crore energy-efficient LED bulbs under the domestic lighting programme. A Power Ministry statement said the Energy Efficiency Services Limited, EESL, has distributed 5.1 crore LED bulbs and the programme has led to significant savings to the country and consumers who are using these bulbs. <br/><br/>An estimated daily energy saving of 1.80 crore Kilowatt hour, kWh, been achieved due to the programme.<br/>The target is to replace all the 77 crore incandescent bulbs sold in the country by LEDs. This will result in reduction of 20,000 MW load, energy savings of 100 billion kWh and Green House Gas emissions savings of 80 million tons every year.
