Processions, public meetings banned in UP ahead of Ayodhya verdict

In Uttar Pradesh, processions and public meetings have been banned with immediate effect and officials have been asked to strictly enforce prohibitory orders in all districts in view of the crucial Ayodhya title suit verdict on 24th of this month. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports a prohibitory order under Section 144 has been promulgated in all the districts. Security has been beefed up in and around the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow Bench and entry is allowed only on furnishing a valid identity proof even by Advocates and their staff. More than 10 companies of additional central forces along with bomb disposal squad and RAF along with large contingent of state police have been deployed in both the Lucknow and Allahabad High court premises. No one would be allowed to park their vehicles on the roads adjoining the High Court premises for the entire week and the area has been declared out of bounds for vendors selling tea and snacks.
