Maharashtra's Chief Secretary D K Jain has said that the process of fixing sugarcane prices must be streamlined as per the Revenue Sharing Formula – RSF for sugar factories which have completed cane crushing. <br />''<br />''This was after the meeting of Cane Price Regulatory Board, which was attended by Mr. Jain and representatives of farmers and sugar cooperatives. <br />''<br />''Out of 181 sugar units in the state, prices of 157 were fixed as per RSF. <br />''<br />''During the meeting, farmers alleged that some factories had claimed more expenditure for cane crushing and transportation and demanded that the minimum sale price of sugar be increased to 34 rupees per kilogram. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">This year 185 sugar factories took up crushing of over 425 lakh metric tonne of sugarcane. While over 5,166 crore rupees have been paid to farmers for crushing of cane, arrears of 5,320 crore rupees are still pending.</span><br />
