Senior CPIM leader Mr Nilotpal Basu today said the proceedings of the Parliamentary Standing Committees should not be thrown open to media as it could hamper free discussions of issues. Speaking at a workshop on Parliament and Media, Mr Basu told the proceedings of the Standing Committees should not be thrown open to media because the quality of debate and discussion that goes on in the committees may suffer due to it. Mr Basu has urged upon the journalists to work with tenacity to bring to light the problems faced by common man.<br/>
