Probe to be conducted on mismanagement by discoms: Satyendra Jain

Delhi Power Minister Satyendra Jain today said a thorough probe will be conducted to investigate mismanagement by discoms reported in a CAG Report. There are reports that CAG has found that three power distribution companies of Delhi inflated their dues by almost 8000 crore rupees to be recovered from consumers. The CAG has said in its report that there is scope for reducing tariff rates in the city.<br/><br/>Talking to media, Mr Jain said if the findings in the report are true, strict action will be taken against those responsible. He said he has only gone through media reports, and the matter will have to be studied in detail. He said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier raised questions on the functioning of the discoms. <br/><br/>Congress said if power distribution companies are inflating their bills, then they are betraying the people of Delhi. Party spokesperson Tom Vadakkan said if discoms are doing something wrong, the law must take its own course. He said Mr Kejriwal must also remember his promise of withdrawing subsidy to the companies once the CAG report comes.<br/><br/>BJP leader Satish Upadhyay said, Delhi government run by Aam Aadmi party is squarely responsible if there are any irregularities in the discoms.
