Probe ordered into Friday's Naxalite attack on IAF Helicopter in Chattisgarh

The Indian Air Force has ordered a probe into attack on its helicopter on Friday by suspected naxalites deep inside Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. One CRPF personnel was injured and the helicopter was damaged in the firing.

An IAF spokesperson said in New Delhi that a team of technicians has been sent to the spot to get back the Mi-17 chopper, which suffered 15 hits in the firing and extensive damage to its hydraulic oil and fuel tank.

Helicoptor's radio operator and an Assistant Platoon Commander of Chhatisgarh armed force who were injured in the firing have been flown to a hospital in Raipur.

The chopper was attacked after it took off from Jagdalpur to rescue two CRPF personnel and was forced to land in Chintal Gufa and Temalwada area in Dantewada district.
