Pro-Telangana Committee holds protests in several districts as agitator succumbs to his injuries

In Andhra Pradesh, Pro-Telangana agitators under the aegis of Telanagana Joint Action Committee today held protests in several districts of the Region against the delay in carving out a separate state. The Protestors laid siege on the houses of MLAs and obstructed public meetings and programmes in which elected representatives were taking part. In Medak, state Information and Public Relations Minister and leader of the house in the Assembly,Geetha Reddy abruptly left a function after the JAC agitators held a protest demanding resignation from congress leaders.In Nalgonda town, tension prevailed when a group of students attacked CPM MLA J.Rangana Reddy near Jilla Parsihad Office. The Police brought the situation under control after resorting to lathi charge to disperse the agitators. Students pelted stones at the MLA’s vehicle demanding his party’s support for Telangana and his resignation.PCC President D Srinivas has appealed to the students not to resort to the Suicides and destroy their future on the statehood issue as the Congress Government is committed to carve out Telanagna state. Stating that the Srikrishna Committee had been appointed to look into the matter scientifically, the PCC president has asked students to keep the facts before the committee.The Vice Chancellor of Osmania University Prof. Tirupathi Rao appealed the security forces not to enter the campus without asking for it. Stating that the students are willing to take examinations and classes, he said exams would be held to save the academic year. The University campus, where see-saw battles and stone pelting between police and students took place yesterday, was calm and quite today.Meanwhile, the pro-Telangana agitator, who attempted self immolation yesterday on Osmania University campus in Hyderabad, has succumbed to burns in the hospital this morning. Police said, Yadaiah, the 19-year old intermediate student was succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment and his body was shifted to his native village, Naagaram, in Ranga Reddy district.
