<br/>The pro-talk faction of the extremist out fit United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has welcomed the Central Government’s decision to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam taking the pre-1971 electoral rolls as parts of the basic documents. This decision will pave the way for taking up the 1951 electoral rolls of the State as parts of the basic documents later on.<br/><br/>In its statement, singed by its president, Mrinal Hazarika, the ULFA faction has also made an appeal to all the indigenous peoples of the State to welcome the said decision of the Central Government and also to extend all co-operations towards its implementation.<br/><br/>The Government has also been requested by the ULFA faction to take every possible step to make the entire process of updating the NRC comprehensible for the people and also to provide the social organizations the scope to monitor the entire updating process.<br/>It may be mentioned that the ULFA faction has been pleading that the illegal migrants staying in the State should be identified with the help of the 1950 National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the 1951.
