Pro-Putin protesters march through Moscow

Supporters of Russian President Vladimir Putin have staged huge demonstrations in an apparent effort to help secure his re-election in next month's Presidential polls. The rallies took place yesterday in Moscow, the central city of Yekaterinburg, the Far East city of Vladivostok, and other parts of the country. <br/><br/>A pro-Putin group had called for the campaign. Police said, more than 60,000 people, including governing party supporters, took part in a rally at Red Square in central Moscow. They voiced support for Putin's policies such as military action in Syria.<br/><br/>Last Sunday, protests took place across Russia in support of an opposition leader's appeal for a boycott of the election.
