Pro and anti-Mubarak protesters clash in Cairo

In Egypt, the supporters of President Hosni Mubarak clashed violently with opposition protesters after marching into an anti-regime rally in Tahrir Square in which three people were killed and at least 500 people were hurt. Repoerts say, the sound of gunfire is still being heard in the nearby areas of Tahrir square.United States has denounced the violent attacks on peaceful demonstrators and journalists, saying that the use of violence to intimidate the Egyptian people must stop and these attacks are a direct threat to the aspirations of the Egyptian people. UN chief Ban Ki-moon said the attacks on protesters were unacceptable. President Barack Obama said that Egypt's orderly transition must begin now. However, the Egyptian foreign ministry said such calls sought to inflame the internal situation while Vice President Omar Suleiman insisted there could be no dialogue with the opposition until all the protesters go home.Earlier Army urged the youth to return home, saying it is time to go back to normal life after the announcement of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak that he will not stand for re-election in September and promised to initiate political reforms.Opposition has rejected his announcemnent and asked him to step down.
