Privileges Committee of Rajya Sabha sought explanation from 13 opposition MPs for disrupting proceedings of House during first leg of Budget Session

The Privileges Committee of Rajya Sabha has sought explanation from 13 opposition MPs for disrupting proceedings of the House during recently concluded first leg of the Budget Session. Sources said the MPs also include Congress member Rajani Patil, who was suspended for shooting video of the proceedings.  <br />'' <br />'' Earlier, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar had referred the matter against 12 opposition MPs to the Committee for investigation and reporting. The committee was asked to investigate alleged breach of privilege by the MPs for persistently and wilfully obstructing the proceedings of the House. The MPs, whose names have been referred are, Congress' Kumar Ketkar, Phulo Devi Netam, Imran Pratapgarhi, Shakti Sinh Gohil, Narabhai Rathwa, L Hanumanthaiah, Ranjeet Ranjan, Nasir Hussain and Jebi Mather Hisham, Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjay Singh, Sandeep Pathak and Sushil Kumar Gupta.<br />'' <br />'' The Rajya Sabha bulletin highlighted that these MPs violated the rules and etiquette of the House. It said, they were repeatedly entering the well of the House, shouting slogans, persistently and wilfully obstructing the proceedings and compelling the Chair to adjourn the House. The opposition parties held protest during the session over the Adani group issue, suspension of Congress MP and other matters.
