In Meghalaya, private school teachers known as deficit school teachers resumed duty on Wednesday ending thier strike from the 4th of this month. Meghalaya deficit school teachers had on Tuesday suspended their indefinite strike after receiving an assurance from the state government on their demand for 40 per cent arrears, which would be released before Christmas. President of Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association E D Nonsiang said the association suspended the indefinite strike following Government's assurance. He said if the government failed to fulfill its commitment the school teachers will again resort to necessary action. The school teachers also demanded medical reimbursements and pension benefits.
