Prithviraj Chavan to continue as Maharashtra CM; lead upcoming Assembly polls

Prithviraj Chavan will continue as Maharashtra Chief Minister and lead the Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Party General Secretary Mohan Prakash told AIR that the party will fight the polls under his leadership. Prakash's statement puts to rest the speculation over Chavan's fate in the wake of the dismal performance of the Congress in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

A section of party leaders had sought his removal from the post of chief minister in the wake of the party's rout.
