Abdul Samad Bhatkal, a prime suspect in the German Bakery blast case in Pune, was remanded to police custody till June 1. He was produced before Mazgaon metropolitan magistrate in Mumbai today in connection with illegal arms seizure case of 2009. <br/><br/>The court asked if he wanted a state-appointed lawyer to defend him, to which, Abdul replied that he would appoint a lawyer for himself at a later stage. <br/><br/>Abdul Samad, a close aide of alleged key conspirator in 2010 Pune German Bakery blast, Yasin Bhatkal, was arrested by Maharashtra ATS on the night of 23rd May from Mangalore. He was brought to Mumbai yesterday afternoon. <br/><br/>Maharashtra ATS had said that the arrest was made in connection with an arms seizure case of 2009. <br/><br/>In August 2009, three persons were arrested from south Mumbai for possession of illegal firearms, which, according to the ATS, were supplied by Abdul. Abdul hails from Bhatkal in Uttarkannada district in Karnataka.
