Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address inaugural function of Parakram Diwas in Kolkata today

<span style="color: #222222;">Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the Parakram Diwas celebrations at Kolkata today to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He will preside over programmes at the National Library and Victoria Memorial to be held this afternoon.<br />'' <br />'' After arriving in Kolkata in the afternoon, the PM will visit Netaji Bhawan in South Kolkata to pay homage to the great freedom fighter.<br />'' <br />'' From there, he will go to National Library campus and visit the artist camp before delivering the valedictory address at the International Seminar on Netaji. Internationally acclaimed researchers in Netaji will be taking part in the seminar virtually from the USA, Germany, Myanmar, Thailand and Bangladesh.<br />'' <br />'' Later in the evening, Mr. Modi will inaugurate a permanent exhibition and a projection mapping show on Bose at Victoria Memorial. A compilation of letters written by Subhas Chandra Bose from 1926 to 1936 will be released in his presence. INA veterans and freedom fighters will also be felicitated in the programme which is supposed to be attended by the Governor and Chief Minister of the state. A cultural programme "Amra Nuton Jouboneri Doot" will also be held. Our Kolkata correspondent reports, the government of West Bengal is also celebrating the day in a befitting manner.<br />'' <br />'' In West Bengal, various programmes have been going on since this morning to commemorate the 125th birthday of the monumental patriot ­­Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the Prime Minister's visit and the Chief Minister's rally in Kolkata to pay homage to Netaji. The state government is celebrating the day as Desh Nayak Diwas. In the morning, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the programme arranged by Netaji Research Bureau at Netaji Bhawan in South Kolkata.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Later she took part in a rally from north to central Kolkata along with state ministers, MP and MLAs to pay tribute to Netaji. Conch Shell have been blown by people across the state at 12.15pm to mark Netaji's time of birth. The Chief Minister has announced that a monument named after Azad Hind Fauj will be built at Rajarhat. A state funded university named after Netaji will also be built. She raised the demand again to declare 23rd January as a national holiday. The state unit of BJP, Congress and other organizations are also paying homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.</span>
