Prime Minister Narendra modi has expressed grief on the passing away<br/>of former Punjab Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala. In a tweet, Mr<br/>Modi said, he is pained by the death of Mr Barnala. The Prime Minister<br/>said, Mr Barnala's rich service and contribution to the nation will be<br/>remembered.<br/><br/> Barnala served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1985 to 1987. He<br/>also served as Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizers and Food<br/>and Consumer Affairs in the Vajpayi government. He also served as<br/>Governor in Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh.
