In West Bengal, the prime accused of the Gyaneshwari train accident Umakant Mohato was killed in an encounter with the joint force at Mohanpur forrest near Lothasuli in Jhargram in West Midnapur District. The Superintendent of Police of Jhargram Praveen Tripathi told AIR that the encounter started on Thursday night and security forces recovered the dead body of the hardcore Maoist leader from the Jungal this morning. Arms and ammunitions have been recovered from his custody. The joint force is conducting combing operation to flash out Maoists from the area.
