Prices of pulses have shown a downward trend in wholesale markets of the country. Bumper kharif pulses sowing and slow domestic demand followed by new arrivals have forced prices further down.Arhar declined by 800 rupees per quintal to 11,700 today in Chennai market. It has lost 200 rupees in Delhi markets. Masoor declined by 150 rupees at 5,900 per quintal. Moong moved down 200 to 300 rupees. Urad too was quoted 100 rupees lesser.At the central government level, an Inter Ministerial Committee on prices is regularly reviewing availability and prices of pulses. The Government agencies have procured about 1.39 lakh tonne pulses from the domestic market and 56 thousand tonnes have been contracted for import so far.
