The Government has said that it is working for the establishment of a price stabilization fund to provide financial relief to farmers when prices of commodities fall below a specified level. Talking to reporters after the pre-budget meeting with representatives of the Agricultural sector, Minister of State for Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the move also aims to alleviate the hardship faced by the farmers due to low prices and to safeguard their interests. She added that the government is also moving forward to increase investment in agricultural sector. She said that centre is also working to unburden the offices of Food Corporation of India for smooth functioning.
