The issue of price rise rocked both the Houses of Parliament on the third day today. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were first adjourned till noon and later for the day as the BJP led opposition continued to press for a discussion on the issue under a provision which entails voting. Several parties had given fresh notices for the discussion despite the Lok Sabha Speaker, Mrs Meira Kumar rejecting their plea of an adjournment motion on the issue on Wednesday. In the Lok Sabha, the Leader of the Opposition, Mrs Sushma Swaraj along with other opposition leaders today raised the issue despite the requests by the Speaker that it can be taken up after the Question Hour. Dissatisfied opposition trooped into the well of the house forcing its adjournment. The situation was no different when the house reassembled at noon. The Rajya Sabha was adjourned once before its final adjournment. The BJP-led NDA members were on their feet immediately after the Environment and Forest Minister; Mr. Jairam Ramesh took oath as a member of the house. The repeated requests from the Chairman for calm in the house went unheeded as opposition started raising slogans in support of their demand.
