The issue of price rise today rocked both Houses of Parliament. While the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on the issue, the Rajya Sabha was also adjourned twice over the issue. There was uproar in both the Houses right from the start when the two houses met for the day. Agitated over the steep rise in the prices of essential commodities, the opposition members were up on their feet shouting slogans against the government for not being able to check the hike in the prices. Both the Houses were first adjourned till 11.30 and then till noon. Members belonging to TDP were also seen carrying placard for united Andhra Pradesh. When the Lok Sabha reassembled at 12, the entire opposition was again on its feet and continued their sloganeering unrelentlessly. In the midst of the pandemonium, the House completed its legislative business for the day with the passing of all the three bills, slated for today. The External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna had to lay on the table the statement on the Prime Minister's visit to Russia. The proceedings in the Rajya Sabha, however, resumed smoothly after 12.Earlier, members belonging to Left Parties, Samajwadi Party and RJD sat on a dharana outside Parliament on the price rise issue. Basudev Achariya of CPIM said that they will take the issue to the people after the session.
