Price rise issue rocks both Houses of Parliament

The issue of price rise today rocked both Houses of Parliament, leading to the adjournment till noon. Both the houses were first adjourned till 11.30 and then till 12. As soon as both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha assembled for the day, the opposition members from the Left, Samajwadi Party, RJD and BSP were up on their feet shouting slogans against rising prices. Some members belonging to TDP were also seen carrying placards for United Andhra Pradesh. In Lok Sabha, the speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar said that the notice for adjournment and suspension of Question Hour has been rejected as the issue of price rise has already been discussed on 26th of last month. The members, however, refused to heed to the appeals by the Speaker to calm down and trooped into the well of the House, ultimately, the House was adjourned till 11.30. When the House reassembled , the entire opposition was up on its feet shouting slogans against the rising prices and the government leading to pandemonium and the house was adjourned within minutes till 12.<br/><br/>The situation was no different in Rajya Sabha. Following uproar in the House on both the issues, the Chairman Mohd. Hamid Ansari adjourned the House first till 11.30 and then till noon.<br/><br/>Earlier, members belonging to Left Parties and Samajwadi Party sat on a dharana outside Parliament on the price rise issue. Basudev Achariya of CPIM said that they will take the issue to the people after the session.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the BJP today said that the government is not doing enough to capture the escalation in the prices of essential commodities. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, party leader Ravishankar Prasad said that the present situation is a result of faulty central policies. Stating that the common people are suffering due to the situation, Mr. Prasad said that despite of the Prime Minister being an eminent economist himself, the government has failed to control the situation.<br/><br/>
