The price rise issue continues to dominate the proceedings in the two Houses of Parliament on the second day today. While the Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till noon, the Lok Sabha is now debating whether the House should take up issue for discussion under a rule which entails voting. As the Lok Sabha met for the day, the Speaker allowed Leader of the Opposition Ms. Sushma Swaraj to explain the necessity for taking up the discussion under such a motion. Ms. Swaraj forcefully pleaded the case saying the notice is specific to take up the hike in the prices of kerosene and LPG by the recent government's decision. This, she said has affected the common man badly. Mr. Sharad Yadav of the JDU, Basudev Acharya of CPIM, Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav of SP, Mr. Dara Singh Chouhan of the BSP, Mr. Thambi Durai of AIADMK, Gurdasdas Gupta of CPI while supporting the opposition sponsored adjournment motion highlighted the problems faced by the people due to what they called alarming rise in prices.
