Price rise can’t be discussed under adjournment motion: Govt

Government today said that discussion on price rise can not take place under the adjournment motion as being demanded by the Left parties.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Harish Rawat said that rules of adjournment motion entail that voting can be done only on issues of recent occurrence. He added that inflation is a continuing issue and not a recent one.

Another Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said that the Left parties should not use the issue of price rise as a platform for political advantage. He urged them to participate in discussion and suggest possible measures to control it.
