He expressed condolences to the family of the late Olympian.  <br />''<br />''One of the country's greatest athletes, Balbir Singh Sr was part of India's gold medal winning team at 1948 London, 1952 Helsinki and 1956 Melbourne Olympics.  He was only Indian among 16 legends chosen by the International Olympic Committee across modern Olympic history. His world record for most goals scored by an individual in the men's hockey final of the Olympics still remains unbeaten. In his illustrious playing career from 1947 to 1958, Balbir Singh Sr won 61 international caps and scored a whopping 246 goals. He was also the manager of the 1975 World Cup-winning team.</span><br />
