President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted the Nation on the occasion of Buddha Purnima tomorrow. In her message, the President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil has said that Lord Buddha’s teachings have had influence on Indian culture and thoughts. She said that the message preached by the Tathagatha, of compassion, non-violence and equality should serve as a beacon for humanity in its path towards spiritual emancipation.
The Vice President Mr.Hamid Ansari in his message, has said that teachings of Lord Buddha, especially of ahimsa, righteousness and universal love are of eternal relevance. He called upon the people to rededicate themselves to follow these teachings towards building a harmonious society and encouraging national amity.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh in his message, has said that Gautama Buddha’s teachings of dharma based on love, compassion and non violence are timeless and as relevant in today's world. He said that the message of Lord Buddha inspires the people to follow the path of truth and compassion and devote themselves to serve humanity.
