In her message, the President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil has said that these joyous festivals inspire the countrymen to strive for peace, harmony and amity and work for the unity and progress of the country. In his message , the Vice president, Mohd. Hamid Ansari has said that these festivals inspire the people to transcend all barriers and unite. In his message, the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said that these harvest festivals are a thanksgiving process and a celebration of the hard work of the farmers.
