Prez, Vice Prez, PM and Sonia Gandhi greet people on Eid

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today throughout the country except Kerala where it was celebrated yesterday. The festival marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan. The President, Vice President, Prime Minister and the UPA Chairperson have greeted the people on the occasion. In her message Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said that the festival brings joy, happiness, compassion and tolerance. Extending his greetings Mohammad Hamid Ansari has expressed hope that the auspicious occasion will bring amity, prosperity and happiness in countrymen’s lives. Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the festival is associated with sacrifice, kindness and help for the needy. In her message, Mrs Sonia Gandhi said that the festival reminds us of the virtues of harmonious co-existence, mutual respect for each other's faith in a multi-religious and diverse society like ours. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi also greeted the people on the occasion Ganesh Chaturthi which is being celebrated in several parts of the country today.
