The President, Vice President and the Prime Minister have greeted the people on the eve of Id-ul-Fitr. In her message Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said that the festival brings joy and happiness on the culmination of the month of Holy Ramadan as it brings compassion and tolerance. Extending his greetings Mohammad Hamid Ansari has expressed hope that the auspicious occasion will bring amity, prosperity and happiness in countrymen’s lives. Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the festival is associated with sacrifice, kindness and help for the needy. Dr. Singh also greeted people on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi which symbolizes the cultural unity of the country.
