The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will present the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Award to former Kerala Governor R. S. Gavai in Amravati today. Mr Gavai has made a significant contribution in building Dr Ambedkar's memorial at Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur.

Mrs. Patil yesterday inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Sharada Udyog Mandir at Amravati. She also laid the foundation stone for the Missile Workshop being established at the Nandgaonpeth Industrial Estate in Amravati district.

Maharashtra Governor K. Shankanarayan, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Minister of State for Defence M. M. Pallam Raju were also present on the occasion.
