The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil today called for evolving suitable models of partnership between farmers, the private sector and the government in agriculture and rural development.
Mrs. Patil said the partnership will help in accelerating growth in these sectors.
Addressing a four day conclave on Innovative Approaches for agriculture knowledge Management system in New Delhi today, she said that institutional arrangements need to be made to enhance competitiveness in this sector besides policy orientation for a farmer centric industry.
Mrs. Patil said that knowledge and its management must be leveraged for the benefit of farming community.
She said presently the results of agriculture results do not prove much fruitful for the farmers and called for transferring them in an understandable and doable manner.
The four day conclave is being attended by policy makers, university researchers, farmers and private sector representatives to chalk out a holistic strategy for the benefit and development of agriculture in the country.
