President Pranab Mukherjee presented National Awards to Teachers for the year 2014. Total 338 teachers were honoured with the awards. The award carries a silver medal, certificate and 50000 rupees as award money.<br/><br/>The scheme of national award to teachers was introduced in 1958 with the objective of enhancing the prestige of teachers and giving public recognition to teachers of outstanding merit.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion President said, Teachers mold the destiny of students and impart wisdom and learning to our future generations. By organizing teachers day, we honor our teachers who are practitioners of the noblest profession. He said, 5th September is celebrated as teachers day as it is birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great teacher and also our 2nd President.
