Trinamool Congress has decided to support UPA Candidate, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential poll. An announcement to this effect was made by the Party Chief and the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata this afternoon. The votes for the poll will be cast on Thursday.

The Congress President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi today held brief interactions with the party MPs. Emerging from the meeting, Union Minister, Harish Rawat told reporters that discussions took place about the process and procedure of voting. He however added that such meetings are held ahead of every Presidential and Vice-Presidential election.

The non-Congress, non-BJP parties have fielded Mr. P.A.Sangma in the presidential poll. BJP is also supporting Mr. Sangma.

Meranwhile, UPA nominee Mohd. Hamid Ansari will file his nomination papers in the Vice Presidential poll tomorrow. Sixteen nominations have been filed till date. The last date for filing of nominations is 20th of this month.

The National Democratic Alliance has fielded Mr. Jaswant Singh in the Vice-Presidential poll.
