Prez, PM urge institutions to focus on innovation; Term it as key to development

President Pranab Mukherjee today said innovation is the currency of the future and it converts research into wealth. Speaking at the Visitors conference at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, Mr Mukherjee complimented all heads of central universities for participating in the conference. President also had a word of praise for Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi for their global academic rankings.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said Society is becoming technology driven and it is essential to understand the importance and look towards affordable technology. <br/><br/>Addressing the first ever visitors conference at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, Mr Modi said, to achieve one's dreams, innovation is the key and institutions must place their focus on innovation. Mr Modi said, Science is universal but technology needs to be localised for growth. <br/><br/>He said, the biggest strength of Make in India is human capital and Skill development is extremely vital. Prime Minister said, government initiative on solar energy has surprised many but if we are doing innovation in technology and energy, it can be a big service. Mr Modi said to achieve one's dreams innovation is the key.<br/><br/>Prime Minister also released the IMPRINT India brochure and handed over the first copy to the President Pranab Mukherjee. IMPRINT India is a Pan-IIT and IISc joint initiative to develop a roadmap for research to solve major engineering and technology challenges the country.
