The President Mrs President Pratibha Devisingh Patil led the nation in paying homage to the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar popularly known as Baba Saheb Ambedkar,on his 121st birth Anniversary today.

Mrs Patil offered floral tributes at the statue of Baba Saheb at Sansad Bhavan Lawns in the Parliament House complex in the national capital. Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi also offered tributes to Dr. Ambedkar.

Among other leaders who paid floral tributes to Baba Saheb included the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and senior BJP leader L.K Adwani.

Our correspondent reports, hundreds of people visited the Parliament House Complex since morning to pay tributes to the messiah of the marginalised and downtrodden sections of society.

A series of functions have been organised in various parts of the city to highlight the contributions of Dr Ambedkar in nation building.
