Prez Patil to be accorded with ceremonial welcome in China today

The president Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil who arrived in Beijing on Wednesday on a 6-day State visit to China would be accorded ceremonial welcome on Thursday by Chinese President Hu Jintao at East Plaza. She will be given 21 gun salute and inspection of Guard of honour will also take place. <br/> <br/>AIR correspondent covering the President’s visit reports that she will be holding high-level discussions with President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, Chairman National People`s Congress Mr. Wu Bahguo and other senior officials with an aim to further strengthen mutual trust, friendship and cooperation. Delegation level talks will also be held on Thursday followed by signing of agreements. <br/> <br/>AIR Correspondent covering the President’s visit reports, in view of the emerging roles of both India and China in world economy, the partnership between both the countries is now gaining global dimensions. <br/> <br/>Both are interested in having a conducive atmosphere for increasing bilateral trade and investments. Both the countries have already announced to work together to achieve the bilateral trade target of 60 billion US dollars by the end of this fiscal. The 60-member business delegation accompanying the President is expected to explore the possibilities and avenues to further boost the trade relations.<br/> <br/>Earlier the President was accorded a warm welcome at Beijing International Airport. Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue received her at airport. She was received in a traditional way and children welcomed her offering bouquet and received return gift from Mrs. Patil. Other dignitaries including Indian Ambassador Dr. S Jaishankar were also present at the airport. <br/><br/>
