Prez Patil accepts Kamat’s resignation

The President Mrs Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has accepted the resignation of Minister of State for Home and Communications, Mr. Gurudas Kamat. This follows on the recommendation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. According to a Rashtrapati Bhawan Communique, Rural Development Minister Mr Jairam Ramesh has been given the additional charge of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. Mr. Kamat was elevated as Minister of State with independent charge of Drinking Water and Sanitation Ministry in yesterday's cabinet reshuffle. He, however, refused to take charge and said that he would like to work for the party in Maharashtra.57-year-old Kamat is a five time MP from Mumbai.
