The President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil today presided over the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Sainik school Kunjpura in Karnal district. Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia, Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda, former Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor and Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Rtd Lt Gen D D Sandhu were among the dignitaries who were present on the occasion. The President after felicitating the old boys and presenting trophies to the meritorious students said, she is pleased to know that the school has given 1800 officers to the Army in the last five decades including former General Deepak Kapoor. She said that the school is providing yeoman service to the nation by grooming and motivating young children to join the Armed forces. Haryana Governor released the souvenir of old boys Association and Presented its first copy to the President. He also presented Captain badges and academic prizes to the brilliant student of the school.
