The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced the new Science and Technology innovation policy’ 2013 at the Centenary Session of the Indian Science Congress in Kolkata today. Dr. Singh handed over the first copy of the new policy to the President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. The President inaugurated the five day long centenary session of the Indian Science Congress in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Science & Technology Minister Jaipal Reddy, Union Communication & Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other dignitaries from the field of Science & Technology in Salt Lake Stadium. The theme for the Centenary Session is ‘Science for shaping the future of India’. Our Kolkata Correspondent reports that the first session of the Indian Science Congress was held at the historic Asiatic Society in Kolkata way back in 1914.
